Guest attire doesn’t have to mean a line at the rental tux counter or a Pinterest board full of contradictions. At Fox & Quinn, we believe your wedding dress code is an extension of your event’s energy — a tone-setting detail that invites your people into your world.

Below, we’ve translated each of the eight Fox & Quinn archetypes into guest dress codes that match the aesthetic, feeling, and formality of the experience you’re creating. Because what you wear matters — and your guests deserve a little styling too.

Clean Editorial

Sculptural Neutrals & Tailored Texture

Think refined silhouettes, architectural lines, and a strictly edited palette. Guests are encouraged to wear pieces that are minimalist, modern, and expertly tailored. Cream suiting, column dresses, black accents, and sculptural jewelry all align here. It’s confidence in restraint — no fuss, all form.

Suggested Palette: bone, graphite, ivory, sand, ink, merlot

Textures: silk crepe, matte suiting, crisp cotton, leather

Earthy & Elevated

Natural Layers & Refined Ease

The feeling is grounded but polished — like the best dinner party in a glass house. Guests should dress in layers of linen, wool, and woven textures. Flowy silhouettes, warm neutrals, and tonal variations of earth tones create cohesion without being matchy. It’s quiet luxury with a rustic lean.

Suggested Palette: olive, clay, driftwood, moss, cream

Textures: raw silk, linen, crochet, suede

Mood & Muse

Dramatic Neutrals & Velvet Shadows

This is your fashion-forward friend’s dream dress code. Dramatic silhouettes, interesting textures, and moody neutrals are highly encouraged. Think satin in slate blue, black lace, or oversized tailoring with personality. The vibe is cocktail hour at a gallery opening — styled but a little offbeat.

Suggested Palette: charcoal, merlot, storm, ink, gold

Textures: velvet, silk satin, crepe, tulle, lace

Heirloom Grandeur

Formal Legacy with a Soft Glow

For weddings that feel like the Met Gala in a ballroom. Guests should wear traditional formalwear with elevated detail — timeless gowns, classic tuxedos, silk gloves, vintage accessories, and floor-length looks with presence. Think elegance with staying power, not trend-driven flash.

Suggested Palette: pearl, burgundy, antique gold, dove gray

Textures: brocade, taffeta, duchess satin, embroidery

Coastal Modern

Sunwashed Layers & Understated Luxury

Relaxed formality is the tone here. Guests are invited to wear elevated pieces that breathe — breezy silhouettes, tonal color stories, and tactile fabrics like linen and soft silk. Sandals may be encouraged (or even required), and accessories should feel natural, not forced.

Suggested Palette: stone, oat, sea glass, white, pale terracotta

Textures: linen, silk charmeuse, cotton voile, raffia

Airy Whimsy

Light, Playful & Pastel-Drenched

Guests should arrive in soft shapes, floaty fabrics, and colors that look like they were plucked from a gelato case. Think floral prints, puff sleeves, ruffles, and accessories that feel joyful but curated. It’s garden party meets daydream — no dark colors, no harsh edges.

Suggested Palette: blush, lemon, mint, lilac, sky blue

Textures: chiffon, organza, embroidery, soft tulle

Wild Romance

Overgrown Glamour & Sensual Contrast

This dress code invites guests into a world of rich color, tactile fabrics, and unapologetic drama. Jewel tones, floral jacquard, off-the-shoulder necklines, and bold prints are welcome. Guests should feel like they stepped into a Baz Luhrmann scene — immersive, emotive, and stylishly undone.

Suggested Palette: plum, crimson, moss, midnight, rose

Textures: velvet, lace, silk jacquard, crinkled chiffon

Garden Reverie

Botanical Elegance with a Storybook Twist

Romantic and ethereal, this dress code leans into garden party chic. Guests can wear floral prints, tea-length dresses, flowy suits, or wide-brimmed hats. Nothing overly structured — just a sense of softness and timelessness. Ideal for ceremonies in greenhouses, courtyards, or under tree canopies.

Suggested Palette: sage, ivory, buttercream, rose, dusty blue

Textures: cotton lawn, silk organza, floral appliqué, ribbon

The best dress codes do more than suggest an outfit — they offer a feeling. A moment of immersion. A chance for your guests to step into your vision and wear it with pride.
